Great news: Over the last two years, I have been working with Solano County and the Solano Transportation Authority to make the paving of McCormick Road a reality. The breakthrough came when I worked with City staff and STA staff to obtain advance funding of our annual SB1 allocation. This advance helped the City of Rio Vista meet its obligation to pave the 0.42 miles that lie within city boundaries. The first phase will improve the .42 miles located in Rio Vista and 1.08 miles from Rio Vista boundary to Canright Road. The County will manage the project, and the City will fund its share of the construction costs, $602,000. While it does not provide a paved direct access to highway 113, it does provide a bigger alternative route to Highway 12. This is a great win for the City of Rio Vista because the project was receiving little traction but where there is a will there is a way and the first phase began on the 28th of September. More updates to come!
